Living "The Life"
Throughout 2020, due to travel restrictions resulting from the spread of Covid-19 around the world, Kerrin gear has travelled further this year than the Australian team behind the label. And while we were honing our Zoom and Teams virtual meetings with suppliers and manufacturers in Europe, a relationship of sympatico and serendipity developed between us and then LA-based, Brazilian-born cinematographer Gabriel Novis. You can learn more about Gabriel and his creative work here.
Gabriel, who is an avid surfer, reached out after spotting a pair of the Kerrin.co blacked-out Boardies online. Believing the Kerrin brand ethos and aesthetic could wear well with him on some upcoming travels, Gabriel arranged a catch-up over Zoom to discuss the possibility of collaborating in some way. A couple of catchups online proved that our philosophies aligned; there was a mutual love for good design, travel, music, outdoor adventures and creativity. We sent Gabriel some Kerrin gear for his feedback and he loved it.
Gabriel told of his next adventure - packing up his pad in LA and heading first to Brazil to work on creative projects, surf and to generally enjoy life to the full. And it would be the perfect opportunity for us to live life vicariously during Australia's strict lockdowns.
He needed gear that would travel light and look casually put together under any circumstances, any time of day. And we wanted to get the Kerrin.co vibe beyond Australian shores and seen by more people overseas. Who better than a creative who lives "the life" through and through? We had been considering some sort of brand ambassador program for a while, believing that the right advocates coming on board would spread the good word about our fledgling label through travel, outdoor pursuits and creative endeavours as well as give important feedback for future product developments.
When something takes off so easily, it’s hard to resist. So that’s where we’ve landed. Gabriel is our first official brand ambassador. And he and his enigmatic wife Famke, also a photographer, are currently somewhere in the Brazilian rainforest, documenting their intoxicating adventures.
